During the Orizzonte project, we studied the “Laboratorio di Cucina” cooking meetings organized by the social cooperative Officine Vispa in Bozen/Bolzano. The diverse group of participants faced unequal power dynamics due to a hierarchical structure. To foster inclusivity, we introduced facilitation methods, including check-ins, role distribution, and collective decision-making. These interventions led to the creation of the Orizzonte toolkit – a simple, step-by-step guide helps organizers facilitate horizontal group meetings, ensuring participatory democracy and giving voice to everyone.
